Project Historian for Construction: How Searchable Daily Logs Protect Margins When Disputes Hit

Capturing a daily log is only half the job. The other half is finding the right entry when an owner, attorney, or insurer asks a pointed question three weeks later. Example 1: Subcontractor Performance Reports

Owners and GCs argue about manpower constantly. If your logs name the trade, headcount planned vs actual, work area, and blockers, the Project Historian becomes a performance report engine.

What to capture in the daily log:

  • Vendor / supplier and PO or material description
  • Arrival time and whether the delivery was complete
  • What was missing and which rooms or activities are blocked
  • Who accepted the delivery on site

Example 4: Progress Tracking by Area and Trade

  5. Blockers (RFI, inspection, material, access, other trade)
  6. Safety / visitors / inspections
